HOW CLEAN ARE OUR HANDS??

How Clean are our Hands??

We carried out an experiment to see what happens when we don't wash our hands.

EXPERIMENT:

We used:

-3 slices of bread.

-3 plastic food bags

PROCEDURE:

1. Mrs Fay put on clean surgical gloves and took a slice of bread from a new loaf out and sealed it in a food bag. This was our sterile bread.

2. Next she took another slice of bread and passed it around to us all. We all touched it with our unwashed hands. She sealed this into a food bag.

3. Finally, Naofa sanitised her hands really well and took another slice of bread from the loaf. She touched it on both sides and then it was sealed in a food bag.

PREDICTION:

We predicted that the bread touched by dirty hands might go mouldy before the other two slices.

RESULT:

After two weeks, the bread touched by dirty hands is really mouldy on front and back. Both of the other slices are still white and have no mould.

We have proven in this experiment the importance of washing hands to get rid of germs, viruses and bacteria and also how effective hand sanitiser is.
