On Friday 27th April 3rd and 4th class went on their annual trip into Killeshandra for the National Spring Clean. We split up in to 3 groups. Mrs O' Neill's group tidied up the Carrigallen road area and the footpath to the school. Mrs Connolly's group tidied up the playground. Mrs Fay's group tidied up the Town Lake area and the resource centre area. It was a beautiful day and as you can see from the pictures the town looked splendid in the sunshine. We really enjoyed ourselves.

Fire Brigade Visit
Mr Ronan Kearns and Mr Peter Brady, Killeshandra Fire Fighters, visited our classroom on Wednesday 18th April to teach us about Fire Safety. They showed us their equipment including an infra red thermal scanner which was really cool. This is used to detect people who may be trapped in a smoky building.
Congratulations to Peter on your upcoming retirement and thank you for all your years of service in Killeshandra Fire Brigade. We have really enjoyed your visits over the years.

Making our own paint
Making our own paint:
We learned how to make our own paint. For this we used equal parts flour, salt and water mixed into a paste in a bowl.
Once the paste was at the right consistency, we transferred the mixture into zip lock bags. We put a few drops of food colouring in to each bag, sealed them and squeezed them until the colour was evenly distributed.
We then transferred the paint mixture into sauce dispensers...
....and so the creativity began!!
Look at our masterpieces!!!
