Science week

Can you walk on air? That was the question that 3rd and 4th class asked on Friday in GP room at our science fair.
to try this experiment at home you will need a small table and some balloons.
Procedure:
  • Step 1: Blow up all the balloons to the same size.
  • Step 2: Place the balloons on the table and stick them down with some sellotape.

  • Carefully turn the table upside down.

  • Step onto the table slowly.

  • No balloons popped. Many pupils  in the class were able to stand up on the table without the balloons bursting. The balloons did change shape as the table pushed down on them.

Conclusion: Air will withstand force even if pressure is put on it, just as the table put pressure on our balloon filled with air.
